Fed up of the rising costs on BT? Switch to a SIM-Only deal - July 26th 2009

T-MobileBT have recently announced that it will be putting up their prices for a second time this year. Call costs had previously risen in April and will do so again in October 2009 making calls almost 35% more expensive than they were in the beginning quarter of this year. The new call charges will rise from 3.91p per minute to 5.25p per minute. The price hike will affect 12million BT customers with only those on the Anytime package not being affected. Many of BT’s customers are furious at the planned changes and have voiced their anger on the Internet with one user stating ‘They’ve always been a rip off”.

So what can you do if anything? One option is to switch to another landline provider. There are a number of other companies including Talk Talk and the Post Office. They offer cheaper line rental and connections in a new home. The other option is to ditch your landline. Do you really need one? If you only make a few calls using your landline then a cheap sim only contract deal will give you free texts, internet and plenty of talk time minutes. For example, on T-Mobile sim only you can get unlimited texts and Internet plus 600 minutes for just 20 pounds a month. It’s a 30 day contract so you can cancel or change deals at anytime. If you want broadband then you can also get a pay as you go mobile broadband on a range of mobile networks including O2 and Vodafone.
