What tariffs to go for?
So we now say bye bye to the flexible boosters once offered across the T-Mobile range and hello to call allowances to other T-Mobile friends and family. In my opinion this is a step backwards as none of the new tariffs offer a data package included within the plan. Most of the new tariffs do however feature 5000 texts. The T-Mobile Fixed SIM only offers are still available and Free Flexible Boosters (Texts, Internet or Landline calls) can be chosen with this option. Where the standard tariff may not look as good as other networks on the face of it, the Fixed SIM only available make them much easier to tailor to your needs. For example, standard tariffs don’t come with Internet but this can easily be added on as an extra where you will get 500MB. The only disadvantage in this situation is that you won’t have unlimited texts. This may or may not suit your needs however, for most average users 300-500 texts can be enough to last you the month. Whichever booster you choose, you have the choice of alternating them every month if your requirements change.
The most popular T-Mobile SIM Only contract at this moment in time gives you 300 Mins + 300 Texts + FREE Flexible booster for only £15.50 a month.
For BlackBerry users, there are now 4 new plans that are specifically for you, however to obtain BlackBerry Internet you will need to add on a bundle that starts from £4 a month.
There are also Micro SIM deals available for iPhone 4, Nokia Lumia and other micro SIM phones also starting from only £8.50 a month.
If you require Internet for your phone the you have four different add-ons to choose from depending on your usage. These include Basic (£4 for 100MB, Standard (£9 for 750MB), Extra (£14 for 1.5GB) and Super (£19 for 5GB).
The great aspect of opting for an Internet Booster with T-Mobile is that you can browse and email with no limitations. You won’t be charged any additional fees for exceeding the allowance, that is more specifically there as a cap for streaming video content, uploading and downloading files. Hitting the limit by with those activities will mean that you can’t do them again until the next month.
Fixed T-Mobile plans
The guys at T-Mobile think like their customers and realize that some of us hate going over our allowance. This is why they introduced a fixed cost SIM only option on 30 day contracts. Selection this option gives you a bit of peace of mind in some ways as once your allowances have reached their limits you won’t be able to use it further without topping up your account in the same way you would do with a PAYG SIM.
Benefits of T-Mobile
T-Mobile is without doubt one of the best networks the UK has to offer and it’s recent partnership with Orange makes it a force to be reckoned with. Being able to use both networks is clearly a huge advantage for you as this means even greater coverage across the UK and over the coming months the networks will be sharing 3G reception too so that you can access high speed Internet from even more places.
In terms of promotions there isn’t much on offer at the moment compared to what you might get with Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone where you will get things like priority tickets and 2 for 1s. One customer benefit that does stand out is their Recommend a Friend bonus. Here, if you get a friend of family member to join, you’ll both get a £25 gift voucher to spend.
Data Usage policy
When it comes to using the Internet for
browsing and email they are the only network to charge a fixed price with no extra charges or limits. There is however, a 500MB allowance on things like streaming music and videos as well as other downloading or uploading such as photos. If you do exceed that quota then you won't be able to do those activities again until the following month.
T-Mobile customer experience and services are second to none and there are a variety of ways to get help if you need including Twitter, calling 150 or via their forums. Managing your account is also made easy via My T-Mobile and there are also apps for both Android and iPhone.
