What Tariffs to go for?
Orange SIM only contracts have improved over the last year or so and they now offer a variety of competitive plans that are designed for every type of user. Whether you enjoy texting, browsing the Internet or talking you shouldn’t have a problem finding a suitable tariff.
Orange has nicely grouped each type of user according to an animal as follows:
- Racoon – Great for landline users
- Dolphin – Great for texting and browsing the Internet
- Canary – Great to texting and comes with Magic Number on 12 month plans
- Camel – Great for International users
In addition to these there is also a new set of tariffs designed for iPhone customers that gives a mix of data, minutes and unlimited texts. These plans also offer the most data making them the perfect partner for your phone.
The majority of tariffs are only available on a 30 day contract and our first choice here is to go for the Dolphin selection. For £20.50 a month you can get 500 anytime minutes, unlimited texts and 250MB of data. 12 month tariffs are now available under the all the ranges and offer much better value for money than their 30 day counterparts. There are several cheap deals available at £10.50 and others for £15.50 a month with 200 and 600 minutes available respectively. This is as much three times as many minutes as the 1 month contracts so well worth getting if you’re fine with the longer term commitment.
Benefits of Orange
- "2 for 1 Cinema, Pizza Express and a free iTunes movie every week."
The most recognised benefit of joining Orange is their 2 for 1 cinema tickets on Wednesdays. This is a great promotion if you love films and you can make significant savings if you are a regular at the cinema. This offer isn’t limited to the cinema though as there is now a new promotion called Orange Thursdays whereby they give you one of their favourite films to download for free on iTunes every week.
In tandem with these film promotions, there is also a 2 for 1 offer with Pizza express so you could also enjoy dinner and a movie at half the price. Whether you use this promotion every week or once a month, we think there’s a healthy saving to be made.
- "Excellent 2G and 3G (rolling out over the next few months) coverage in even more regions."
The Orange brand now falls under the company Everything Everywhere who operates T-Mobile as well. The two brands started sharing their networks in early 2011 and so this allows them to provide excellent 2G coverage all over the UK. More recently, the sharing of the networks has extended to 3G coverage allowing customers to connect to the internet at faster speeds in more places than ever before.
- "Use your phone data to browse the Internet on your computer"
As well as these general benefits, Orange provide an excellent choice of tethering bundles and landline minutes add-ons. These are extras that you can add to your SIM only deal for an additional fee. The rates are quite good too starting at £5.10 for 500MB of tethered data, £10.21 for 1.5GB of data and working its way up to a massive 10GB for £25.54.
- "Home & Mobile Broadband Discounts"
Like with O2, as an Orange customer you can also receive discounts on their home and mobile broadband services.
