apple announce iphone 4 and uk release date - 8th June 2010
Amid all the previous speculation, rumours and leaks about the next iPhone and a new OS update for it, Apple finally announced the release of the iPhone 4 yesterday.
The Apple iPhone 4 release in the UK will be on the 24th June which is the same day that it will go on sale in the U.S., Japan, France and Germany.
The pricing information for the UK has yet to be confirmed though we can probably expect it to be similar to the U.S. pricing (except in pounds), if the iPad prices are anything to go by. Our counterparts will be paying $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for 32GB
All the major UK iPhone networks including O2, Vodafone and Orange will be selling the iPhone 4 upon release with the only notable exceptions of T-Mobile and 3 missing out.
O2 launched a statement yesterday confirming that they will be stocking the iPhone 4 from the launch date and also added that existing iPhone-contract users would be in for a treat with a special upgrade offer. There has also been speculation on tech sites like Engadget that their might be a pre-upgrade period of up to 6 months that will allow in-contract users to upgrade to the iPhone 4 much earlier. Other questions being asked are, will Apple sell an unlocked version on the iPhone 4? how much will it be? Will I be able to get a Micro-sim card deal on other networks?
Further information will be announced in the coming days.
